Coal Exports Re-opened, but Not for This Company

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – The government has re-opened the faucet for coal exports as of February 1, 2022 after being banned throughout January 2022. However, this rule does not apply to companies that have not complied with domestic market obligations (DMO) and have not paid fines or compensation.

Director General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ridwan Djamaluddin said that the reopening of coal exports to companies that have met the DMO requirements as well as by paying fines and compensation for the lack of DMO. “Meanwhile, companies that have not fulfilled the 2021 DMO and have not submitted a statement letter willing to pay fines or compensation for the 2021 DMO deficiency have not been allowed to sell coal abroad,” in an official statement quoted on Monday (31/1/2022).
